The shared poem
was full
wrapped with meaning.
Opening it was just
the beginning
needing rereading.
It would be nice with
margin notes
ribboned with remarks.
But the present wasn’t
ready
for proper receiving.
“I’ll punch little holes
in it;
then you can have it”
The gift is not mine
until
I’m still and steadfast.

In the movie "Harvey", Elwood P Dowd, played by Jimmy Stewart, explains coping with the world this way:
"Years ago my mother used to say to me, she'd say,
'In this world, Elwood, you must be' - she always called
me Elwood - 'In this world, Elwood, you must be oh so
