Courage

The Magi had courage

going to Herod about

the birth of a usurper.

They boldly asked

and did not soften

their intention

to render homage.

“They knew his politics

his trickery, perfidy,

and cruelty… the wrath

and danger it would draw”[1]

The grace of the Spirit

gives witness

and we see in them

the Gift of Fortitude

The Magi’s epiphany

revealed to them and us

the presence of Jesus

and what it means

“God exalted Jesus…

to grant repentance

and forgiveness of sins.”[2]

In the movie "Harvey", Elwood P Dowd, played by Jimmy Stewart, explains coping with the world this way: "Years ago my mother used to say to me, she'd say, 'In this world, Elwood, you must be' - she always called me Elwood - 'In this world, Elwood, you must be oh so smart or oh so pleasant.' Well, for years I was smart. I recommend pleasant. You may quote me." Well, for years I was smart, oh so very smart, I too recommend pleasant - Trust the harmony
