The Greater Good

I thank God for the graces

He gives me.

“Of all creatures in the world,

I am the one;

Heaven has spoken to.”[1]

…be good, do good

What about this blessing

I have received?

Can I say with Paul

That I am good

“By the grace of God,

I am what I am:

and his grace in me

is not void.”[2]

Thank God that there is

an abundance of good will

to make me grace-full

a power for good

“He did give me such graces,

not for my self-glory,

but for the greater good.”[3]

… the glory of all

I thank God for the graces

He gives me.

In the movie "Harvey", Elwood P Dowd, played by Jimmy Stewart, explains coping with the world this way: "Years ago my mother used to say to me, she'd say, 'In this world, Elwood, you must be' - she always called me Elwood - 'In this world, Elwood, you must be oh so smart or oh so pleasant.' Well, for years I was smart. I recommend pleasant. You may quote me." Well, for years I was smart, oh so very smart, I too recommend pleasant - Trust the harmony
