Duty

“We hold these truths to be self-evident,

that all peoples are created equal,

that they are endowed by their Creator

with certain unalienable Rights,

that among these are Life, Liberty

and the pursuit of Happiness.”[1]

Rights are good and do good

demand entitlement

enforce blind justice

Duty    is the power of good

expects involvement

bestows compassion

We hold these works to be fully manifest,

that all are included in the union,

that they are gifted by the Creator,

with certain inviolable Duties,

that among these are Power, Freedom,

and the support of Harmony.

Rights uphold the common good

dictate formal judgment

mandate conformity

Duty    beholds the greater good

            suggests prudent wisdom

heartens community

When Right realizes Duty

Then Duty realizes Right
