State of Emergency

There is a state of emergency –

be careful and be alert.

Indeed, there is no plan,

no control of what will be.

Being emergent, regardless

of “supposed to” and “have to”

allows me to be responsive

and receptive in the moment.

In harmony with what is left,

I’m one with in between the notes

embracing the joy of grace

and the blessedness of silence.

I make a difference,

and thus, I’m different.

In this state of emergency –

as I change, so God changes.
